Celebrating 21 Years: Insights and Milestones from Our Content Marketing Agency Team
Reflecting on 21 years of success, milestones, and memories, The Harbinger Group (THG) stands as a premier content marketing agency that has not only driven impressive business results but also built a unique culture centered around connection, collaboration, and mutual support. Over the years, our agency has thrived due to the dedication of our team, the partnerships we’ve built, and the shared triumphs that have shaped our journey.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the experiences and memories that make THG more than just a content marketing agency—it’s a close-knit community where every team member contributes to our success.
Here are some reflections from our team, each sharing a moment that made their time at THG special:
Eileen Rochford, CEO
A few years ago, I had an unforgettable moment before an important presentation with a long-term client. We discovered a typo in our materials right before the meeting, after sending hard copies. Instead of panicking, we decided to address it with a sense of humor. We turned it into a fun competition, offering a cake as a reward to the first person who spotted the typo. It reminded me of how, even as a content marketing agency, we can maintain our humanity and choose how to handle challenges with a positive outlook.
Kellie Kennedy, Executive Vice President of Strategic Earned Marketing
One of my favorite memories involves researching a new business opportunity with our CEO. To truly understand the client’s environment, we visited a casino—an experience that impressed the client and demonstrated the level of dedication we bring as a content marketing agency. It was a fun and valuable way to gain insights, all while reinforcing our commitment to delivering tailored content marketing strategies.
Tony Bosma, Vice President, Digital Marketing
Working with The Harbinger Group for ten years, it feels impossible to pick only one memory, so here are my top two favorites:
The first is the day we presented our proposal to our client, Powering Chicago. Our team worked tirelessly on the proposal, competing against several agencies. It felt like a significant milestone when Eileen called me a few hours after the presentation to tell me we were chosen. It was my first time pitching new business, as I had primarily been working on our client, Golden Apple’s account at the time, so this was new territory for me.
The cherry on top was that the person who invited us to present found us through a Google search, which meant our efforts to make our content marketing agency more discoverable online had paid off. This led to a partnership we’ve now had for more than five years.
Another favorite memory is more personal and spans several moments over time. When I lived in Chicago, Eileen lived a short bike ride away, and I often went to her house to work together. I did this for several years and got to watch her kids grow up. THG has been like a family to me for ten years, and these memories are very special. Working closely with Eileen also meant receiving invaluable 1:1 mentorship as I grew in my career. This mentorship has been a key factor in my continual professional growth and is something I still benefit from today.
Emily Evans, Director of Content & Social Media
Coming back from maternity leave was made special by the incredible support from the THG team. It was more than just a warm welcome—it was an ongoing display of the flexibility and understanding that sets our content marketing agency apart. As a woman-founded agency, THG has given me the freedom to balance my personal and professional life, making my transition back to work smoother than I anticipated.
Avery Resendiz, Account Executive
One of my favorite experiences at The Harbinger Group was supporting our client, Powering Chicago, at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. It provided a great opportunity to strengthen my relationship with the Powering Chicago team.
Working closely with our CEO, Eileen Rochford, I had the privilege of overseeing interviews with Elbert Walters III, Executive Director of Powering Chicago as part of our content marketing agency efforts. We ensured all key talking points were addressed and that he received the necessary support throughout the process.
This hands-on experience was incredibly rewarding, especially after extensive preparation. Reflecting on The Auto Show, I appreciate having the best of both worlds: the flexibility to work remotely while still having the opportunity to actively participate in significant industry events and foster strong client relationships.
Megan Hoefler, Senior Editorial Director, Content Marketing
As a remote agency, some of us don’t get the chance to meet in person often. One of my favorite memories was when I got to meet with Eileen, Kellie, and Tony for lunch in Chicago. As a content marketing agency, the ability to connect face-to-face for discussions about the future of THG was invaluable.
Olivia Sowacke, PR and Marketing Intern
Working on the Golden Apple Award surprise visits was an experience that solidified my connection to the agency. Being able to contribute to such meaningful work and witness the joy we brought to others was rewarding. It’s moments like this that show the deeper impact of working at a content marketing agency like THG.
Shakari Lewis, Graphic Design Intern
Designing a graphic to celebrate my colleagues’ promotions was a moment I’ll always cherish. It was a proud moment to create something beautiful for people I admire and to contribute to the culture of recognition at THG. As a content marketing agency, we understand the value of celebrating the people who make our success possible.
As we reflect on 21 years of The Harbinger Group, the shared experiences, moments of genuine connection, and mutual support truly define what it means to be a part of our team. We’re grateful to every team member for helping us create a strong community. We look forward to the upcoming years of growth, collaboration, and shared achievements.
